VoIP E911 works differently from traditional phone E911. Your physical address must be registered with the VoIP provider so emergency calls route correctly. For multi-suite buildings (common for CPA and law offices in Scottsdale and Chandler), each suite needs its own E911 registration.

HIPAA considerations

Medical practices using VoIP for patient calls need a provider that offers encryption, signs a Business Associate Agreement, and maintains HIPAA-compliant call recording and voicemail storage.

Failover during outages

When your internet goes down during monsoon season, VoIP goes with it. Plan for this with cellular failover for your internet connection, or configure your VoIP system to forward calls to mobile phones when the office connection drops.
